چکیده

The Inner Tracker System of the HERA-B experiment at DESY is build by groups 1 at the Universities of Heidelberg, Siegen and Zürich. The system consists of 184 Microstrip-Gas-Chambers (MSGC) with a total number of 147 456 electronic channels. The detectors have to cope with particle fluxes up to 25 kHz mm−2 and to tolerate radiation doses of 1 Mrad per year. During the development of these chambers it was found that conventional MSGC, operated in intense hadronic fluxes, are rapidly destroyed due to the phenomenon of induced discharges. The introduction of a Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) as preamplification structure offers the possibility to build robust and reliable detectors allowing for ample gain reserve in the hostile environment of HERA-B.

2 Studies of aging and HV break down problems during development and operation of MSGC and GEM detectors for the Inner Tracking System of HERA - B ⋆

The results of five years of development of the inner tracking system of the HERAB experiment and first experience from the data taking period of the year 2000 are reported. The system contains 184 chambers, covering a sensitive area of about (20 × 20) cm each. The detector is based on microstrip gas counters (MSGCs) with diamond like coated (DLC) glass wafers and gas electron multipliers (GEMs...

MsGC-beta3 forms active homodimers and inactive heterodimers with NO-sensitive soluble guanylyl cyclase subunits.

Soluble guanylyl cyclases are typically obligate heterodimers, composed of a single alpha and a single beta subunit. MsGC-beta3, identified in the tobacco hornworm Manduca sexta, was the first example of a soluble guanylyl cyclase that exhibited enzyme activity without the need for coexpression with additional subunits. Subsequent studies have revealed that the mammalian beta2 subunit also shar...

Imaging Gaseous Detector based on Micro Processing Technology

The development of gaseous detectors has been exciting again since the appearance of a MicroStrip Gas Chamber(MSGC) in 1988, which is made using a microelectronics technology. These days lots of variations of the advanced gaseous detectors are being intensively studied in the world. We have developed the two-dimensional MSGC having a 10 cm square detection area and the ultra fast readout system...

Functional characterization and genomic studies of a novel murine submandibular gland epithelial cell line

A better understanding of the normal and diseased biology of salivary glands (SG) has been hampered, in part, due to difficulties in cultivating and maintaining salivary epithelial cells. Towards this end, we have generated a mouse salivary gland epithelial cell (mSGc) culture system that is well-suited for the molecular characterization of SG cells and their differentiation program. We demonst...

MSGC test with fast neutrons

Results are presented from the exposure of a CMS performance prototype MSGC to a fast neutron beam having an average energy of 20 MeV and an intensity of 7 106 neutrons/mm2/s. A fluence equivalent to 3 years of LHC operation has been accumulated without damages to the detector. The stability of the MSGC operation in a heavily ionising particle flux is reported and the estimation of their produc...
